I WAS born at St. Mary’s Isle, near the ancient town or burgh of Kirkcudbright, Scotland, July 21, 1816. St. Mary’s Isle, an island by nature, but made a peninsular by art, is located in Loch Dee, or Kirkcudbright Bay. It is about a mile and a half in length, and nearly half a mile in breadth.
